Douglas Duff is an associate in Ice Miller’s Litigation and Intellectual Property Group. He focuses his practice on patent drafting and prosecution, trademarks, copyright, and general intellectual property matters. Additionally, Doug handles litigation and licensing matters relating to intellectual property.
As a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Doug examined hundreds of patent applications relating to engine systems and rotating machinery. Prior to serving as a patent examiner, Doug was a design engineer in the pump and fluid machinery industry after receiving a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Wright State University.
Since entering private practice, Doug has prepared and/or prosecuted patent applications across all technology areas. Doug has successfully argued for patentability before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and prepared numerous patentability, freedom to operate, and validity opinions. Doug received his juris doctorate, cum laude, from Capital University Law School in 2013. He served in editor and staff member roles for the Capital University Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Curia.
